How to Find Cheap Baby Cribs For Sale in Your Neighborhood

Cheap baby cribs for sale can be found everywhere. You don't have to overspend on the crib to get a quality item. While many online retailers offer highly competitive prices for cribs, some parents are reluctant to buy over the internet. There are always risks when providing financial information and purchasing a large product from a seller far away. Then you also have to account for shipping costs, which will offset some of those original savings. There are ways you can find cheap baby cribs for sale in your neighborhood without ever placing an order online.

Classified Advertisements in Local Papers

The best way to find cheap baby cribs for sale at the lowest prices are to check for classified ads listed by private sellers. These are usually parents who have no use for their child's old crib, and are looking for a way to free up storage space in their home. They are not retailers, and have no desire to continue selling cribs. They are often the most flexible when it comes to negotiating a fair price. Some people may be in a time-restrictive situation, such as an upcoming move, that requires them to offload all their unwanted possessions. Here is where you can strike an excellent deal.

Make a point to review the classified ads daily to find cheap baby cribs for sale. They will change often, so you don't want to miss a good deal. Also make a point to review multiple newspapers, which will have a different set of ads. Consider looking online for newspaper websites that offer free classified ads browsing. You can even check towns near you without subscribing to their newspaper.

Second Hand Stores

Grab your phone book and look up second hand stores in your area. Remember to look for both general second hand stores and child/baby specific ones. Then make a point to give them a call or stop by and see the merchandise. Just like the classified ads, their stock will change out frequently. You can find cheap baby cribs for sale here, however you will have less negotiating power. You can always ask, especially if a crib has cosmetic damage that might make it less desirable to other buyers. Although don't expect as much flexibility as you would get from a private seller.

Garage Sales, Yard Sales and Rummage Sales

Keep an eye out for signs and other advertisements listing upcoming local used merchandise sales. These include garage and yard sales as well as church rummage sales. You can find lots of cheap baby cribs for sale this way if you are diligent. Some people even include a brief listing of which larger items will be available, which can help you prioritize the sales. If you visit one, make sure you have a way to move the item should you find cheap baby cribs for sale you plan to buy. Since these sales are usually only one or two days long, you will have to have a plan ready to get the crib to your home.

Splendid Valentine's Day Gifts For Someone Special

Valentines Day is dedicated to St Valentine and is observed every year on the 14th of February. The story of St. Valentine is a well known one. There are several other stories supporting the celebration of love. A Valentine gift features as an integral part of the celebrations and has undergone a series of change ever since. Valentine gifts for him and her can be just about anything ranging from chocolates, cakes, cookies, flowers to curios, lingerie, electronics and other classic presents.

The tradition of gifting on Valentines Day is a time honored one and although the gifts have witnessed a gradual change, the essence of gifting and sending suitable valentine wishes still remains the same. The online markets are flooded with valentine gifts as most revelers prefer to send gifts via the internet. Online marts have a surplus of presents for both men and women and they may be classified under the following subheads.

For Her: There is a wide array of ideal gifts for the special her, which is certain to make her feel on top of the world. Classic perfumes, heart shaped chocolates; flowers with customized messages or pictures, and a collection of her favorite music make great gifts for Valentines Day. Home decor may seem ideal if she has a flair for doing up the interiors. How about doing something extra special? Baking a nice valentine cake for her with a mushy message on top is certain to make her beam. If that is not a viable option, opt for cake marts online, to get the best choices of cakes for the special occasion. The customization option adds an innovative touch to the cake and adds panache to these otherwise simple gifts.

For Him: Valentines Day is never complete without suitable presents. Ideal gifts for the special him should preferably depend on the recipients' preferences. If the special someone is an outdoorsy person then do present him adventure sports gear, or plan an adventure trail or picnic for the two of you. A trip in the wilderness is bound to make the adventure lover in him beam. Chocolates, cookies, hearts and flowers are a woman thing and very few men are impressed with gifts like these. If the man in your life is a fitness freak then gift him a gym membership or simple fitness equipments with which to keep fit. Apparel is yet another category which is bound to appeal to the person. Buy him his favorite brand clothing or try something new. Apparel accessories also work well for the special person on Valentines Day.

There are many ways with which to send special gifts on Valentines Day and the Internet is the best option. Online marts are bustling with activities at the onset of February. Few revelers consider the month of February to be the valentine month and observe the festival every single day. Daily or hourly flower deliveries, midnight delivery options and a list of other shopper friendly features add to the rising popularity of online destinations. Most custom made gifts find a prominent place during the gifting occasions and have emerged as the most popular presents online. Avail the services of online marts that cater to a wide range of audiences. Adopt contemporary and swift modes of procurement to make this Valentines Day truly exceptional for the special him or her.

Cingular Wireless Vs. Verizon Wireless

As a first time buyer, you have the choice of getting a "Pay-as-you-go" plan, where you buy a phone and a "bucket" of minutes. Let's jus say that you basically pay for just the minutes you use and nothing else.

Minutes are typically $0.10 and with Cingular, there are basically two different Pay-as-you-Go plans - one where you get free mobile-to-mobile calls and rollover for $29.99 for 200 minutes (lowest plan) with no commitment (up to $69.99 for 600 minutes with unlimited nights and weekends and mobile-to-mobile. All of these plans have rollover minutes.

There is also another one where you just pay $1.00 a day for any day you use the phone and then $0.10 a minute for every minute you use. These are good types of plans for people who only need their phone for emergencies or the occasional call.

Verizon has EasyPay which is $50.00 a month for 300 minutes (lowest plan), and also does not have a commitment and does have unlimited nights and weekends. The EasyPay minutes can only be used in the EasyPay area and you pay roaming charges for any areas that are not part of the EasyPay territory. InPulse is the pay-as-you-go plan from Verizon and is $0.10 a minute, $0.99 a day for any day you
use the phone.

Basically, both carriers have a similar plan and both have a special plan for pay-as-you-go. Phones for Verizon for these plans range from $69.99 to $119.99 and there are three available. Cingular has several models to choose from ranging from $29.99. All of the models of phones from both carriers will be easy to use and there are "non-fancy" models available that should be very good for a brand new user.

The other type of service is the monthly type, where you buy or get a phone for no charge with a two-year commitment. The lowest Cingular and Verizon plan is $39.99 for 450 minutes, 5,000 minutes for nights and weekends and free mobile-to-mobile calls. Nights with Verizon start at 9:01pm and go to 5:59am the next time.

Cingular's nights are 9:00pm to 7:00am the next day. Weekends with Verizon are 12:00am Saturday to 11:59pm Sunday. Cingular's are Friday at 9:00pm to Monday at 7:00am. Cingular has rollover minutes (if you don't use your minutes, they roll over to the next month and add to your minute bucket), Verizon does not have a rollover plan.

If most of your family and friends have Verizon, you probably won't benefit from the free mobile-to-mobile with them if you choose Cingular, but you would with your work peers if they take advantage of the Cingular discount and have Cingular service. The employee discount is only available on the monthly plans and is not available for the pay-as-you-go plans.

If you decide on Cingular, you can contact Cingular directly; they can give you the name of the person responsible for your company's account, who can help you with the Premier web site. You will get special on-line discounts with both companies, if you decide to purchase on-line.

As far as coverage goes, both Verizon and Cingular have coverage, but it appears that the Cingular coverage is better (this is not an original Verizon territory, so they may not have built up the area as well as Cingular, perhaps). Verizon definitely has decent coverage (as I'm sure your friends will attest to, so don't rule out Verizon based on coverage).

Verizon has a 15 day trial period and Cingular has a 30 day trial period. If you decide after the trial period that you don't like or want the phone and/or service, you are not on the hook for the 2 year commitment. This is not available with the pay-as-you-go plans.

Crib Safety Tips

When you're getting the nursery ready for a new baby, the costs can quickly add up. It's tempting to buy the cheapest crib you can find, to try and cut a few corners. But remember - a good crib may be pricey, but your baby is irreplaceable. It's important to remember, though, that you can't just assume that paying more for a crib will ensure it's safe - keep in mind the following safety tips just to be sure.

Dimensions and Measurements

When you go shopping for a crib, take a tape measure along with you. A couple of things you should check include:

- distance between side slats should be less than 2.38 inches to prevent head entrapment

- top rail should be at least 26 inches above the lowest mattress level

- any decorative cutouts should be less than 2.38 inches but make sure they're big enough not to trap fingers

It's helpful if the crib you choose has an adjustable base so that you can lower the mattress level as your baby becomes more mobile. If your child can pull himself up to the standing position, then the mattress should be at the lowest possible setting. It's also important to measure the crib against the height of your child. Once the top rail is lower than 3/4 of his height, then the crib is too small.

Choosing a Mattress

It's always best to choose a firm mattress. When the mattress is in position, there shouldn't be any gaps between the mattress and the side of the crib. Try to slide two fingers down between them - if you can fit your fingers in between the crib and mattress, the mattress is too small. Avoid using any sort of plastic packaging materials in the crib, which can include mattress covers, packaging or dry cleaning bags. If the bedding becomes dislodged, it's possible the plastic could stick to your baby's face and cause breathing difficulties.

The Right Bedding

Avoid the temptation to buy lots of cute and cuddly bedding. You should never put soft bedding underneath your baby, and it's best to choose blankets that are breathable rather than thick quilts or covers. Babies shouldn't be given a pillow, because of the risk of suffocation. Never place stuffed animals or toys in the crib with your baby. Baby should be placed on his back, feet near the bottom of the crib, with bedding firmly tucked in.

Safety Issues

Be very wary of buying old or antique cribs, as it's possible they might have been decorated with lead based paint. If your crib has a drop side, make sure the latch is working properly. You need to take two separate actions to drop the side, or at least have to exert a force of over ten pounds to release the latch. Never place your baby in the crib until you're sure the side is latched properly.

Regularly inspect your baby's crib for any damage or wear, including sharp edges or surfaces. Make sure the crib is positioned well away from windows, curtains or any type of window furnishing cords.

Most of these tips are purely common sense, and you will undoubtedly have already checked for these types of things to ensure your baby's safety. But it never hurts to double check - after all, it's your baby you're protecting.

Avatar, Culturism, and the Death of the West

Avatar, the movie, illustrates all that is wrong with multiculturalism and shows how it threatens Western civilization. This film is easily summarized. It is the good indigenous people fighting the bad U.S. military. But, beyond the highest globally grossing film of all time having audiences cheering the killing of U.S. Marines, the film reflects even deeper multicultural truisms that we must combat with culturism or die.

This film provided a perfect representation of multiculturalism. At heart multiculturalism says to respect all cultures, except the West. This is because we are, as the film explains, seen as imperialist. And, as we have transformed the world, we have disproportionately disrupted the indigenous cultures multiculturalism celebrates. Culturism, by way of contrast, supports the West and recognizes progress.

In indigenous cultures, on average, Lawwrence Keeley and other anthropologists tell us, 25% of the male population died in warfare. And, there was yearly war. The population stayed low because of starvation and death in childbirth. And, while the men fought, women were beasts of burden. In 20th century Europe, by contrast, with its two World Wars, only 1.9% of males died in combat. Most Americans never go to War. Nearly none of us die in War. We live long lives with lots of comforts and food. If you are anti-War you should support the West.

Indigenous populations were not the angelic environmentalists of left leaning Hollywood minds. As the indigenous population spread across North America, it wiped out 85% of the large mammals. Jared Diamond, in Collapse, tells us that Arizona used to be forested. The locals used all the trees and descended into cannibalism, before Columbus arrived. And remember Easter Island? Science solved the Ozone problem. To abandon the West and rationality is to destroy the hope of environmental management.

The film backs an array of pathological leftist multicultural thoughts. This film, as multiculturalism generally, denigrates progress and the West for having made it. The lead character says the indigenous will not give up their way of life for "lite beer and blue jeans." The West is more than that. We have taken the world from one of scared superstition and constant warfare to a place with comfort and progress. Thanks to the West, slavery is nearly gone and the world population is booming.

It was significant to me that the lead character had a "tribal" tattoo. These tattoos show disaffection with the rational West and sympathy for a more emotional primitive past. In several scenes the indigenous people all chant or sway in unison. They have a sense of community. The West is an alienating place as it stresses individualism. But, we could again find cohesion in the fact that we are the cutting edge of technology and freedom in the world. By claiming that we have no majority culture or connection with western civilization, multiculturalism drives people to look for it in fairy tales and get tribal tattoos.

In Avatar the left's hatred of America was on display. Though it happens in a remote time and place, a protagonist calls the marine's destruction "Shock and awe." A Marine leader says "we must fight terror with terror." And, as a central trope, the Marines attack their tallest structure, a tree. This covertly justified the indigenous people's attack on our tallest structure, the World Trade Center. When you couple this with Avatar's asking us to root for the killing of American soldiers, we have a fairly anti-American film.

In reality, whether Hollywood's left or Obama want to admit it, we are currently fighting for the survival of western civilization. Our Islamic enemies, like all indigenous folks, are war like, irrational, and oppressive. When the Taliban took over parts of Pakistan last year, they immediately destroyed nearly two hundred girl's schools. They are attacking Thailand. It is not because of Thai crimes. It is due to the rabid, irrational, drives that their form of theocracy unleashes.

Lastly, the film sinks to its lowest multicultural level with its invocation of racist themes. The angry Marine leader, before and in the ultimate showdown between good and evil, asks the lead protagonist to stick with his own "race." The correct word would have been species. But the choice parallels the multicultural blurring of race and culture. The multis label all mention of negative aspects of cultural diversity "racist." Ultimately, in this film, to be for the West is, in the Marine's words, to be racist. That optimizes the multicultural left's position.

We must use the words culturism and culturist to help distinguish between race and culture. Racism is stupid. But cultural diversity, like progress, is real. If we cannot talk about the negative aspects of some cultures, and if to root for our side continues to be demonized as racist, we are in trouble. Avatar's overtly saying those who side with Western civilization are racist reflects a common multicultural tactic of the left that should not be taken lightly.

Perhaps even scarier, the film constantly evokes the use of the word, "the people." In Avatar, to be for western civilization is to be against, "the people." This is the sort of black and white thinking that leads to genocide. When leaders start doing things in the name of "the people" we are on our way to demagogic authoritarianism. To be good, the lead protagonist must show is he not part of the West, disdains it, and has converted to being one of "the people." This is a bad trope.

For the West to thrive, it must replace multiculturalism with culturism. We must know we have a valuable and vulnerable civilization and strive to protect it. This will give us a much-needed sense of pride and community. We must recognize that progress has happened and we can revert to something much worse. While we have a war on terror, films that subtlety justify the 9/11 attacks and overtly justify the killing of Marines, sap our defense of civilization. The West must stand against theocracy. To do so we must side with and strive for the success of the West. We must adopt a culturist, rather than a multiculturalist, perspective. Avatar shows us why.

Mature Parenting: It's Not Just A Job, It's A Career

The world has always been a complex place. Parents have always thought that their children suffered from having it too easy because of technological advancement. Children have always thought their parents were out of touch with the happenings of the day. And historically, most cultures of the world fail to consider should they do a new fangled thing versus can they do a new fangled thing.

There are always people who resist change. I am not talking about them even though they represent a group that also fails to consider the consequences of action or the lack of action. This group of peoples' behavior is fear based and while fear plays an important role in survival, the beauty of being a human is the ability to control the fear response when it is irrational, or worse, irrelevant. As Frank Herbert says in his Dune trilogy, "Fear is the mind killer."

Advances in technology are sometimes driven by the curious. They ask whether or not a thing can be done and go about trying to achieve that goal. In its purest form, this is an exhilarating intellectual pursuit. Card carrying nerd that I am, I have an appreciation for this kind of advancement because it is fun. The challenge of it all is titillating and the rush of triumph is unspeakable satisfaction. But, then what?

Then, someone who knows how to make money with the idea sells it. Whether they sell it to a government or consumers at large, they get out there in the marketplace and create demand. Even as adults, we are behave like children. (And, not in that good way.) A child will eat his favorite sweet until he is sick if you let him. He does so because he wants to. He doesn't think at all about the importance of balanced nutrition, or the capacity limits of his stomach or the predictable pain of overindulgence. That's why children have parents. To advise them of unseen dangers and compel action from unheeded warnings.

Forgive me for being provocative but who protects adults from the analogous challenges to their ability to choose between what is desirable and what is prudent? Adults come in varying and divergent levels of maturity. That diversity is a good thing, otherwise, the United States might be a nation comprised solely of cowboys, firemen and presidents. Somebody has to run power plants and design buildings. The free market place of capitalism is a rough and tumble place. The predominant focus of marketing is on our reptilian brain, the part of us that responds based on unabridged emotion.

Sure, there are mature great thinkers among us. They consider the pros and cons, the probable versus the improbable and the good versus the bad versus the catastrophic versus the just plain wrong. The history of mankind tells us that historically when this people speak up and give the rest of us a clue, we kill them. A lot of times we give them a chance to recant instead of dying but pain of death is usually the way we go. To be fair, sometimes we say mean things and just stop talking to them.

I apologize for only being able to reach back so far into human history but this is the best I can do. Let's start with Socrates who was killed in 399 B.C. Basically, Socrates argued that there were some things that were either good or bad no matter what your culture was. I think an appropriate example of this might be murder. It's pretty universal that killing people because you feel like it is bad. (Wait! I know what you're thinkin'. What about the cultures that believe women are chattel? Even in those cultures you can't just kill a woman. You have to have a reason. Granted, it can be a stupid reason but you gotta have one or there is gonna be trouble.) Well, that kind of talk resulted a cup of hemlock with dinner courtesy of the citizens of Athens, who voted that Socrates should die for all that kooky talk.

In 1885, when Gottlieb Daimler developed the prototype for the gasoline engine, do you think he could have imagined that the fuel for it would be the excuse for the death of tens of thousands over the coming centuries? Do you think that maybe Nikola Tesla might have had an idea that there was a long term problem with the way gasoline engines functioned so compelling that in 1931 he conceived and executed a "black box" that powered a car for a week on alternating current with no external power source? During that week, Tesla was able to attain speeds as high as 90 miles per hour. Because of the evidence of success, Tesla was much maligned for practicing "black magic." By 1943, Tesla was dead and the documentation for his work had vanished. Oh well, it must not have been that important.

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan- like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion."

Do you think when Henry David Thoreau wrote those words he might have been thinking that the materialistic portions of life might obstruct our ability to live our lives? Only the most esoteric of folks know him by his work. Some time after participating in the "underground railroad," he was jailed for refusing to pay the poll tax as an act of civil disobedience. The mainstream public has always considered him "a little odd".

As adults, we are in charge of the long view. Granted, in the scope of things, our lives are short. But, each of our minds has the potential to reach beyond what we are. We can grow beyond our desire for the latest and greatest and reach for the thoughtful and prudent options. We live in a complex world of relationships. While all relationships are valid at one level or another. Some relationships are sacred and deserve our most reverent attention. Our relationship to the resources we consume and the planet that we steward is one of them. Our relationship to our progeny in perpetuity is another. It has always been true that children pay the price for the mistakes of their parents. As parents, it is our responsibility to mitigate the damage we do. Our ecological responsibility is our social responsibility.

In short, (I know it's a little late for that) as parents we are charged with guiding our children into maturity and part of maturity is self-control. We cannot teach them values that we do not live ourselves.

Office Furniture - Wood Veneer vs Plastic Laminate

Knowing the advantages of both wood veneer and plastic laminate, will guide you to the product more suitable as you contemplate your purchase of new Office Furniture. Most of the office furniture sold is made of solid and ground up wood called particle board or plywood. The solid wood is used to provide the structural integrity of the furniture. The particle board or plywood is used in constructing the tops and large panels. These tops are finished with a thin sheet of either wood veneer or plastic laminate. The wood veneer is edged with a sold wood edging trim, while the plastic laminate is either self edged or with a 3mm plastic edging.

Basically the major advantage of wood veneer is the image that it portrays. Wood veneer furniture is finer and more classy. It will add stature and prestige to your personality. While plastic laminate has many advantages. Plastic laminate can take abuse, it will not stain and scratch easily. The office furniture can also be ordered in very many colors. Another great advantage is that laminate furniture is very easy customizable, like special sizing, drawer and cabinet configuration and two tone coloring. Customizing laminate furniture will usually not increase the price. There is a major price difference between the two, wood veneer furniture being much more costly.

The country of origin where the furniture was produced, should not be a major concern, provided that the company that is importing the item is reputable. Most of the better firms, employ a quality control staff at the factory location, to ensure that it meets its standards. Since most of the furniture is being imported, it is less expensive to ship KD meaning un assembled. Some firms import the case goods KD, and some fully assembled. True that buying a desk or credenza KD will lower the price, however it is worth the extra cost to purchase these items already assembled at the factory, provided that the doorways and passage ways are wide enough for the assembled item to pass thou.

Comfort in furniture is a top priority and a must for every office. At Ace Office Furniture, our goal is to offer the best quality for the lowest price possible. Visit us at http://www.aceofficesystems.com to shop, find and buy high quality office furniture and enjoy our long lasting customer relationships.

How To Personalize A Wind Chime

Wind chimes make very thoughtful and appreciated gifts. Not only are they beautiful to look at as they sway with the wind, but if you find a good wind chime, they can sound almost magical, bringing a voice to natures gentle breeze.

Most wind chimes will last a lifetime as well; a good metal hand tuned chime is something that will be cherished for life. And a nice way to make it a family heirloom is to personalize the chime itself. But just how do you go about personalizing a gift like this? It is actually very easy. Because creating a chime is similar to creating just about any finely tuned musical instrument, you want to be careful not to alter the tubes or the tension on the strings.

The area that can be personalized is called the wind catch. The wind catch is the lowest hanging portion of the wind chime at the bottom of the string that holds the strike. The catch actually sways with the wind causing the strike to hit the tubes and in turn the chimes sing and dance. On most of them, the catch can be personalized with messages of congratulations, well being, or general appreciation. This can be done with either paint or embroidery; the later of the two options will last longer.

A fun project is to find or make your own wind catch to add to an existing wind chime. For most people, you will not have to look further than your own home. Look for something that is heavy enough to keep tension on the strike cord, yet light enough to blow in the wind. Just look through your garage, attic, or even living room and you are sure to find something to hang on one that will add a true personal touch.

Drill a small hole through the item if one does not already exist and tie it to the bottom of the chime. If you can not drill a hole through it, try lashing some string around it instead. As long as your new catch can sway in a gently breeze, your wind chimes will still sound as magical as ever, yet they will be truly personalized.

Gordon Kaye loves to spend every moment he can in the great outdoors, constantly discovering new ways to enjoy nature. Personalizing wind chimes is another fun way to enjoy some time outside. He works and plays for http://www.myperfectpatio.com backyard enhancing site.
